About the artist:

Education:  After graduating from BrownUniversity and studying painting at the Cleveland Institute of Art, Caroline began exhibiting her paintings in the Cleveland area.  After moving to Chicago, she also studied with Robert Dewar Bentley at the EvanstonArtCenter in Illinois for several years. 

Employment:  In Chagrin Falls, Ohio Caroline worked at the Mary Ann Boysen Gallery and displayed her own work in the Blue Moon Gallery.  After moving to Charleston, SC in 1995, she served as a watercolor instructor at the GibbesMuseumSchool for a number of years.  In Charleston she was a founding member of the Charleston Artist Guild Gallery and also displayed her work at the SpencerGallery and the Hamlet Gallery.  Caroline served as well as workshop chairman and juror for the CAG.  Caroline now serves as workshop chairman for the Connestee Falls Art League and gives workshops in her studio there. 

Membership:  Caroline was elected to membership in the Ohio Watercolor Society and is a lifetime member of the Charleston Artist Guild, Transylvania arts Council and the Connestee Art League.  Her paintings are displayed at the ConnesteeFalls clubhouse and a local coffee house. 

Awards:  A frequent award winner in Ohio, Charleston and Brevard art competitions, Caroline recently won first prizes in the Transylvania Arts Councils Member Show and the Connestee Winter Show.  She is in the permanent collection of Kid Story in the CharlestonMuseum. 

Statement:  Caroline describes her work as painterly, incorporating color and strong pattern and design in her work.  She is also interested in the role of light to express emotion and mood in her paintings.  She works in oil and watercolor media and incorporates abstract design in her work.  She enjoys painting people, animals, still lifes, flowers and landscapes.
